The news we’ve all been waiting for has finally arrived. After weeks of rampant speculation, the Daily News reported on Sunday that the 21st season of MTV’s The Real World will be filmed this summer in…wait for it…Fort Greene. The location is the BellTel Lofts on Bridge Street (see picture). Watch a promotional video of the building on Gawker.
It seemed like Williamsburg was the natural fit for the show, and the hipster nabe emerged as the early favorite. The Free Williamsburg blog even created a fake (and funny) preview of the cast. The owner of the winning BellTel lofts, however, thinks “Williamsburg is a story that is three years old.” We disagree, and after much digging uncovered a more recent story about Williamsburg. Read it here.
Now that the selection drama is over, it’s time to focus on the “real” drama of the show. Think you’ve got what it takes to be the next reality TV star? Check out Matthew Robinson’s How to Get on Reality TV. If you’re escaping the spotlight and heading to the beach instead, bring along Shane Bolks’ breezy novel Reality TV Bites, whose protagonist is—what else?—a reality show junkie.
See you on TV.
