The Teacha Teaches

In case you didn’t hear, hip-hop legend KRS-One stopped by Central Library last Thursday to help us kick off our Summer Reading Program. “The Teacha” lived up to his namesake by telling his story of battling homelessness as a teenager and using the Brooklyn Public Library to educate and empower himself.

KRS-One isn’t the only giant of hip-hop visiting Central Library’s front steps this summer. Head over to Central Library this Saturday, June 14 at 2 PM and bust a move with hip-hop pioneer DJ Kool Herc. Here’s a YouTube video we found about the early days of hip-hop and the merry-go-round DJ style Kool Herc invented.

Joining Kool Herc on the Plaza this Saturday is Little Jackie, who blends old-school R&B with hip-hop and pop.

See you on the dance floor.
