We here at the Library are as aware as the rest of you how daunting the holidays can be in this tough economy—but I’m happy to tell you that even if you have to tighten your belt, you don’t have to scrimp on holiday spirit! Free events for all ages abound at your library and around Brooklyn.
Gifts of the Season: Tales for Chanukah, Christmas and Kwanza and the Spirit of Holidays are just two of many December events at the Dweck Center at Central Library. Check with your local library for special events, including Holiday Karaoke, parties and holiday crafts. Or visit our online events calendar.
Brooklyn gets decked out with tree and menorah-lighting ceremonies at Borough Hall, in Park Slope, Brooklyn Heights and other neighborhoods, as well as music, shopping and craft fairs. Santa is rumored to be the special guest at the Atlantic Avenue Tree Lighting & Windows Competition!
Parks all over Brooklyn have an array of holiday highlights, including a Holiday Dance Celebration with the Brooklyn Dance Company.
Don’t despair if your budget is a little short this holiday season—the spirit of goodwill, peace and community goes a long way.
