Out of the Ox Thinking

Jan 21, 2009 2:26 PM | 0 comments

This Monday, January 26, brings the Chinese New Year, the year of the Ox. The Ox represents “prosperity” and “fortitude,” which are exactly what we need for an auspicious start to a new presidency, to combat a challenging economy and to bring good things for 2009.

To learn more about Chinese New Year (also known as Lunar New Year), The History Channel has an interesting website about the history, symbols and food relating to the holiday. Or check out all Chinese New Year symbols and figure out which one you are at Wikipedia. We also have tons of books on the subject.

You can join in the celebration with BPL as we host fun and free family activities, including arts and crafts, puppet shows and performances. Happy Lunar New Year!
