Who says you have to go to Vermont to have a great experience in the snow? Brooklyn is filled with parks that make for great local destinations in snowy conditions. As a kid growing up in Dyker Heights, I spent many Januarys sledding down the slopes of Fort Hamilton. Brooklyn Public Library staff was also eager to share favorite spots. Here are their top picks:
Prospect Park: “Lots of room to run, make snowmen and have a snowball fight.”
Two parks were tied:
Fort Greene Park: “It has really good hills to sled on and the neighborhood is really beautiful when it snows.”
Owl’s Head Park (Bay Ridge): “Serious hills for sledding adventures.”
Does this bring back memories? Share them with us!
