In support of NYC Service, Mayor Bloomberg's initiative to reinvigorate volunteerism and civic engagement in New York City, BPL celebrated National Volunteer Week by holding two events at Central Library. These recognition events honored our over 1,300 teen and adult library volunteers for their dedication and contribution to their communities.

Each year, BPL volunteers contribute more than 70,000 hours of service through the following programs: After-School Homework Helper; Book Buddy - Teen Program; Computer Coaches;  English Conversation Group Leaders; First Five Years Volunteers; Program Assistants for Youth Programs; Program Ushers; Reading Troubadours; Shelf Organizers / Clerical Helpers; Teen Advisory Groups (TAG) – Teen Program; Today’s Teens, Tomorrow’s Techies (T4) – Teen Program; and Welcome Ambassadors.

Volunteer your time, help your community.
