Brooklyn Public Library is anticipating some tough times ahead.
We’re facing a potential budget cut that could devastate our ability to provide Brooklynites with the materials and services they need. The potential results of this cut are drastic and scary, but they’re important for you to know:
- The average weekly hours of service at all neighborhood libraries would be severely reduced from 44 to 32 hours.
- There would be 15,000 fewer free library programs.
- The number of free public computer sessions offered would be reduced by 725,000.
Free library services and materials are vital during a time like this. Help us remind elected officials of this fact! Add your name to the petition at your local library to show your support.
You can also visit our website to subscribe to our eNewsletter, through which we will provide budget updates when we have them.
And don’t forget you can Support Our Shelves by donating what you can at your library or online. Or you can contribute $10 by texting BOOKS to 50555.
Thank you for supporting your library in the past. We hope you’ll continue to do so!
