Have you stopped in at Central Library to see the Drawn in Brooklyn exhibit yet? Curator John Bemelmans Marciano (Madeline Says Merci, Anonyponymous) has brought together some of Brooklyn’s best children’s book illustrators for a display of colorful, engaging and whimsical drawings for your viewing pleasure. Since its installation, the Drawn in Brooklyn exhibition has included art workshops and meet-ups with illustrators, and it all comes together this Saturday, October 16, at Family Day. From 10:30 AM to 3 PM kids and parents alike are invited to partake in readings, book signings, workshops and more!

Also at the Library, cinephiles of the grown-up variety will enjoy No Kidding: International Films about Children at the Dweck Center on Tuesday nights throughout October and November. Tonight’s feature, Forbidden Games, is a French film about the horrors of World War II as seen through the eyes of an orphaned girl and the son of the family that adopts her. Future screenings include:

  • The 400 Blows
  • The Spirit of the Beehive
  • Central Station
  • Whale Rider
  • The Italian
  • Ma Vie En Rose
  • Ponette
